Compaq CQ4010F Black Desktop Gaming PC
A word of warning: if you are looking for a high-end, high performance machine, you might want to look
elsewhere. The Compaq CQ4010F is what others would call as the budget computer - you won’t be expected to pay much
for the CQ4010F but it will get the job done for you – provided that your needs are basic.
The Compaq CQ4010F measures a small 12.2 by 4.4 by 15.9 inches
– if you are worried about space, the dimensions of this Compaq computer wouldn’t take much. The black casing and
the design looks quite good and doesn’t exude the aura of being cheap, though it really is at its current market
price.
Under the hood of the CQ4010F, it uses the Asus M2N68-LA
motherboard. The processor installed is an AMD 2.3 GHz Sempron LE-1300 Processor with 512 KB L2 Cache and a system
bus of 1600 MHz. Since the system is pre-built, it also comes with 2GB PC2-6400 DDR2 SDRAM memory. To maximize the
power of the system, the motherboard allows up to 4GB of RAM to be installed. And for graphics, the system comes
with an NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE Graphics with 256MB integrated shared graphics memory. For expanding the system, the
CQ4010F comes with two PCI slots, though the power supplies block them. Aside from the blocked PCI slots, you also
have a PCI Express (PCIe) x16 and a PCIe x1 slots. If you plan to add in another hard drive, you’re out of luck. In
its quest to be small and chic, they had to forego the hard drive bay. You get 6 USB ports on the Compaq Presario
CQ4010F – 4 at the back and 2 in front of the system.
So, putting all of the parts together, how does it translate
performance-wise? Comparing the Compaq Presario CQ4010F Black Desktop PC to a nettop, the CQ4010F comes out on top.
Against nettops, it performs a bit better. It can play HD videos well without much stuttering. However, when
compared to other budget systems that cost a bit more than the CQ4010F, it runs a tad slower. Also, if you are into
3D gaming and you are expecting the CQ4010F to perform, you might want to spend your money elsewhere. It scored a
pitiful 2 frames per second on games that required the least amount of specs for 3D gaming. The good news is that
thanks to the GeForce 6150 SE, you will be able to play old games with ease.
There is no question that the Compaq Presario CQ4010F Black
Desktop PC is not a high performing computer system. No matter how you look at it, it just won’t fit in that niche.
However, if you are looking for a cheap computer system that would get the most basic of tasks done, then you might
want to check out the Compaq Presario CQ4010F Black Desktop PC.
